What Happens After Your EICR?

Once your EICR inspection is complete, you’ll receive an Electrical Installation Condition Report showing the condition of the installation and any observations identified during testing.

If your EICR is satisfactory, the report confirms the installation is considered safe for continued use at the time of inspection.

If problems are found, the report will identify them using recognised observation codes. Voltex can explain the findings clearly and, where required, provide a quote for the remedial electrical work.

  • Clear EICR report and inspection findings
  • Electrical safety issues clearly identified
  • Advice on any remedial work required
  • Repairs and follow-up testing available

Common Questions About Testing & Inspection Electrical Work

Q1: What is an EICR?
A: An EICR, or Electrical Installation Condition Report, is a formal inspection of the fixed wiring in a property. It checks the condition of the electrical installation and highlights any safety issues or remedial work that may be needed.

Q2: Do landlords need an EICR in Leicester?
A: Yes. Landlords in England are required to have the electrical installations in rented properties inspected and tested by a qualified person at least every five years. You can read the official GOV.UK electrical safety guidance for landlords. Voltex Electrical Services Ltd provides landlord EICR testing in Leicester and across Leicestershire.

Q3: How often is an EICR needed?
A: For most privately rented homes in England, an EICR is required at least every five years. Commercial properties, older installations or properties with higher electrical use may need testing more regularly depending on risk and previous inspection results.

Q4: What happens if an EICR is unsatisfactory?
A: If an EICR is marked unsatisfactory, the report will list the issues found using observation codes. We can explain the findings clearly and advise on the remedial work needed to bring the installation back to a safe standard.

Q5: Can you carry out remedial work after an EICR?
A: Yes. If your EICR identifies faults or safety issues, Voltex Electrical Services Ltd can help with remedial electrical work, repairs and follow-up testing where required.

Q6: How long does an EICR take?
A: The time needed depends on the size, age and condition of the property. A small domestic property may take a few hours, while larger homes, commercial buildings or properties with more circuits can take longer.

Q7: Do you provide EICR testing for businesses?
A: Yes. We provide commercial EICR testing and electrical inspection services for offices, workshops, shops, managed buildings and other business premises across Leicester and Leicestershire.
